National Association of Pastoral Musicians: Wichita Chapter

Hymns & Hops

Thursday, March 16 - 7 p.m. - St. Thomas Aquinas - Allen Hall (basement)

Returning by popular demand, join us for green beer and a Musician Jam Session with your fellow liturgical musicians! Last year, we not only got to learn about some new music, enjoyed some lovely and delightful singing in parts, but also joined in with guest musicians who brought instruments to share some of the beautiful music they share with their parishes. (and of course, snacks and adult or other beverages!)

If you would like to offer your (or your choir’s) talents to the session, please let us know wichitaks@npm.org. We can help you have your music available to share with others to use their instruments and voices to join.

Let us know you’re coming by RSVP here. We’ll have some packets of new music to share! No cost. Bring your favorite (adult) beverage to enjoy!

St. Thomas Aquinas Organ Dedication Concert

Sunday, April 16 - 3 p.m.

Hector Olivera

St. Thomas Aquinas has invited NPM Wichita to assist in hosting the world-renowned guest organist, Hector Olivera, for the dedication of their new organ and a concert. A reception will follow this exceptional opportunity to attend a performance of such an accomplished organist on the new organ!

Wichita - American Guild of Organists

Does your parish have enough organists?  Looking for meaningful ways to involve young people in liturgy?

The Wichita Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is sponsoring a Pipe Organ Encounter (POE) for young pianists/organists ages 13-18, June 25-30, 2023.    A POE is an intensive pipe organ study week of daily individual organ lessons with university faculty organists, workshops, recitals, and activities to encourage and enable organ playing.  Keyboard students who have achieved an early intermediate playing level can apply.  It is a very individualized program where each faculty teacher is assigned only 2 students.  Centered at Wichita State University, it spreads out to 12-15 Wichita churches with significant pipe organs so students learn many instruments.  Highlights of the week are 7 recitals, a theater organ concert, an afternoon tracker organ tour to visit organs north of Wichita, and the opportunity to meet and be mentored by experienced alumni organist musicians of Wichita POE 2015.  For more information contact Carole Pracht at prachtc11@gmail.com.
